Hi Folks
Came across this columbian half. Was checking it and noticed some doubling near the date star and some of the words. Is this considered to be double punched or something else like a worn die.I know it is somewhat common as I noticed the same on other halfs I have. Just curious thanks for any opinions.

From your images, your coin appears to be an example of a "strike doubled" or "machine doubled" coin. This type of doubling occurs during the striking of the coin and is the result of a loose die moving slightly after the coin is struck. The movement creates a "flat" doubling of some design elements. As you mentioned, your coin is one of many with similar doubling.

Your coin does not appear to be the result of a doubled-die - a much rarer error - or a repunched die.

Concur with the replies so far ... your coin exhibits Strike Doubling.

It's a nice curiosity ...
