Oops, I accidentally made the same thread twice and deleted it. Go me. :(

Uncle got it at a yard sale. No idea what to make of it. Any thoughts on if it's real?

It looks fake to me. I am no expert, but comparing it to genuine examples, the metal seems wrong. Also look at the stars compared to an original. These just don't seem correct. Also the lack of detail on the eagles legs on the reverse compared to the amount of details on the rest of the coin seems wrong. Actually, the entire reverse seems wrong when you compare it to an original. For example the distance between the eagle's head and the leaves is completely different. You can see a genuine graded example here:

Your coin looks really similar to this replica:

You can check the weight of the coin as well to help determine authenticity.

Agree that its fake. If real youd be talking a 5 figure coin but it looks off.

So it's worthless? I guess he'll just have to keep it as a novelty piece. XD

Welcome to the CCF ToxicLily. Another confirmation of the many fake Draped Bust Dollars coming out of China.
The weight will be totally incorrect for a genuine coin. Also, the mushy devices and cast appearance are dead giveaways.

I have a 1795, and it's a bit better than this one.
Very sadly, I paid a lot more than $2 for it.
I paid a whole FOUR dollars!

I figured that it would be about the only way I would get to own one.

Does it weigh close to 27.0 grams? Does it ring like a silver dollar when you drop it on a hard surface?

It makes a ring when we flip it in the air and it makes a ring when it hits the floor >.>
Reminds me when they found this giant dollar sized coin yet it had the design of a quarter. We knew it was a fake but it cracked us up. XD I think we still have it though. The mexican coin we found was real though but because my family is from Mexico, they treasure it. Keep it as a good luck charm haha.
