Conservation X2: Lincoln Proof And 40% Silver Half

stev18 Valued Member United States 329 Posts	Posted 02/15/2014 1:22 pm I believe the Lincoln proof has a haze on it that may be PVC. I would like to be able to put it in my Dansco and not worry about its condition going south. I have zero experience with 40% silver. Can it be put in acetone safely? If you're referring to the obverse color on the JFK, though, I don't see that as characteristic of PVC. All the same, many around here just automatically rinse their new acquisitions in acetone as a matter of course, and I'm one who advocates that practice as long as the coin isn't really dirty to start. I will leave the lincoln as is for now. The kennedy I will likely toss into acetone for a bit and see if anything loosens up Report this Post to the Staff
