has any one done this test on our crowns I have been fooling around and cant get any were near or over 10 best was 9.7 I have done the test on 5 coins I got back a low of 8,7 8.9 9,3 9.7 9.7 each one tested 3 times there were 6 of those fake coins that gave me a specific gravity of over 9.1 each time might have to shoot up my crowns also they are fakes and I bought these from aust auction houses to am I doing it right
Principle OK, but the technique could do with a bit of improvement. 1. Use a plastic container that is only just big enough to accommodate a fully submerged coin. 2. Use a scales that is most sensitively accurate in the weight range you are measuring.
Remember the correct application of Archimedes' Principle: "When an object is wholly or partially immersed in a water, there is an apparent loss in weight, which is equal to the weight of water displaced".
