I can understand they want to recoup some of the work they put into the site, but running a web server isn't that expensive. The owner of the site had/has pulled out of many forums and had things to take care of, but, honestly, they would make more money if they simply sold coins online at the site. I am sure they are thinking about that as well, and I see hints that they are planning to do so, but until the door opens, one won't know for sure.
There are other sites that offer services for free, so many will migrate there vice spend the cash. I understand that CC is a decent source for copper coins in general, but its not like they are at the level a 3rd party certification service is. It's their site, and they can do what they wish with it, but they can expect a low number of subscriptions since other organizations like the
TPG's offer the same thing for free. Sure the
TPG's don't offer every stinking copper variety out there and thats a good thing. The
TPG's offer ones that are certifiable and those are the ones I am interested in anyway. I am sure John Wexler's site will amp up in visitors and life will move on.
