I'd like to know what everyone thinks about leaving it as is?

WOW get it out of there this very SECOND!
Remove the staples carefully and put new ones in.
Leave it as is the staples and ancient flip add to provenance.

I voted to remove it. Yes, the older 2x2 is neat, but if it was mine I'd rather have it in a holder I knew was safe.

It's not graded by a known pro so I say repackage it. It looks pretty unappealing.

I get coins in holders like this quite often. I just run a sharp knife or a razor through the plastic (away from the coin) and then tip it out onto a clean cloth. Don't even think twice about it and not sure why you would either.

It's just the whole beauty and the beast thing, the coin looks great and the folder looks nasty, just seemed like it made the coin look better by contrast.

Plus is says to me the coin has not been handled for 40-50 years.

I'll swap it out next time I get that book out I guess.

That is very scary. I would remove the coin and place in a new holder.
