sorry I don't have any pictures but..

On the front, it says belgique, and the back is says bon pour
It also says 2 F on the back and the year is 1923.

What is this? Is it valuable?

Thanks.

I believe this is what you're looking for: http://fr.numista.com/catalogue/pieces506.html
Not rare, worth at most at $1 unless it's super high grade.

It is a 2 franc coin from Belgium. There are two major official languages in Belgium and historically they have made two different coinage series, one for each language. Your coin is the French-language version, the slightly more common one. Neither are rare nor particularly valuable; unless they are in pristine as-minted condition they are only worth a few cents to a few dollars. It is made of pure nickel.

Being 1922 it's a bit of a special issue. Not anything to make it more valuable but just adds to the story.

It's Bon Pour, or "Good For" 2 Francs, the pre-WW I issues were made of silver. This was emergency issue just till the economy stabilized and silver could be re-introduced into their coins, like many European nations of the time. Of course WWII kicked off and the silver never returned.

funny thing is with the changes in composition with most nations going to steel or zinc or other cheaper metals that solid nickel coin might be worth some bullion value, like the silver coins are today... I'm not saying that will happen any time soon maybe a few hundred years before nickel is priced per ounce instead of per pound.

then again in a few hundred years we may be mining the asteroids and other planets and gold along with all other precious metals will be raining down into the oceans like in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" great book, I need to read it again some day.

It was at this time that there was a major rise in the price of silver, followed by a price crash a couple of years later.

It was at this time that the British coinage was reduced in fineness from .925 fine to .500 fine.
