Hi all, any idea what the cause of this is?

2005-20c-Shiny-Grey-With-Background-Lines?

Based on previous posts of similar images, I'm leaning towards it being a proof released into the wild ... possibly?

Looks like a normal coin harshly cleaned to my eyes

Thanks Trout1105, that was quick!

The only thing that doesn't make sense with that suggestion (for me) is that the background lines go consistly and evenly across the coin, particularly in the low areas and right up to the raised parts of the design.
