I recently bought this because I really liked the die clash on this. I found that the 4 seems to be re-punched. I was unable to locate it in the Snow guide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's a bronze cent. I'm still trying to figure out my camera. It doesn't help that I am Red/Green colorblind lol.

Nice closeup on the "64" I see repunching on both digits
Snow lists a defective date punch for 1864, which matches the little knob off the vertex of the diagonal/horizontal stroke. However, I'm not sure that accounts for the doubling on the base of the 4.
I cannot match this one in my Snow guide for this year--perhaps it's a new RPD (or new to my edition?)
I also see something in the denticles. Maybe Rick Snow would loook at this one?

Yeah I just recently got the snow guide myself. I couldn't find it in there. I thought the the little knob part was PMD. How would I go about getting someone to look at it for me?

I'm pretty certain none of that is PMD--either the date punch I mentioned or repunching.
Rick Snow offers an attribution service for a small fee (details on my last post)

Oh, man. Please forgive me, but I laughed out loud at the frustration of someone with red/green blindness (my dad was that way) trying to get White Balance right. However, you have me thinking, and I've got to find out if there's a fairly easy solution to this.

There is *one* solution if you have the right equipment - shoot a Custom White Balance image from a known-color card (18% gray or pure white) for each photo session, or light the exact same way each time (I don't even shoot during daylight for that reason). No type of color blindness will matter to this process.

What is going between the last 5 feathers. Also the top of the ear and the TY in LIBERTY are missing. The repunching of the '4' is very similar to the 4 in S2 of an 1864 CN. Very confusing.

I think the stuff in the feathers is a die clash. You can even see some of the shield between the bust and the date.
I saw the '64 CN S-2. The 4 has some similar doubling, but it looks different too.

Update: I just heard back from Rick Snow regarding his attribution fees:
$4 per coin
$8 for return postage via registered mail.
$1 for every $1,000 value insurance.

I see it. It is quite obvious now that you pointed it out. Thanks. Still not sure about the variety. Doesn't match anything that I could find.

Thanks DVCollector I'll get in contact with him.
Thanks to you SSuperDDave as well I will give that a try and see what I can come up with.
No worries on the laughter. I do it often.
Yes in between the feathers is part of the die clash. It's fairly obvious on the REV as well, but hard to pick up with the camera.

DV--does Snow do attributions on raw coins. If so, how is the attribution certified if there is no slab.
Rest in Peace

Yes--he attributes your coin "raw", but who is better qualified than Rick Snow on IHCs?
Rick Snow also sells IHCs raw--without a TPGs help--imagine that.

What camera are you using, Waxemm? I'd be happy to work with you on getting the best out of it - we've a pretty active Photography forum here which I can't seem to keep my hands off of.
