I have a small collection of Assie coins which I have gotten by trade or buying from members here. Well, I'm finally gotten enough interested that I want to learn about these and Assie coins in general. I've been searching for an online site to start learning but I haven't found anything I like yet. Looking for beginners info, with coin history, lots of pics, info on marks and terms and stuff like that. Any recomendations? By the way. main interest has been on U.S. coins.

my favourite site has been the Australian Stamp and Coin company. They have a wonderful site up for varying Australian coins, and many informative articles.

Here are some others I've noted:
Cruzi's Coins - a collector site with some good general information.

Ian Hartshorn's site has some more esoteric stuff about decimal varieties and errors to watch out for.

Australasian Numismatic Dealers Association, or ANDA, is the group of dealers that run the major coin shows down here; you'll find links on the ANDA site to many of the dealer websites here.

G'day Thingee,
have you got a starting point for your Aussie collection ?
pre-decimals (1910~1964)
decimals (1966~ ...)
Old Gold (1852~1931)
there is also a wonderful array of trade-tokens from the gold rush era (1851~ ).
If you have a look at various threads in the Australian section of CCF, you'll find a wealth of information about Australian coinage.

Welcome aboard Thingee, as I've told a lot of others, "It's Addictive"
If you need any help at any time, don't hesitate to post or even send an email.
