Posted this in the wrong section earlier today so here it is again, my Celtic Remic gold stater. Really is a beautiful coin to look and and to hold as well. Celtic is such an amazing coinage to collect, the artwork on their coins is incredible in the detail.

I believe it's the Dobunni tribe. I will post the reverse tomorrow as at work but it's uninscribed so nothing exciting. Will be looking for a Norfolk wolf next as that's where I am originally from. This hobby could get expensive. Matt

Very nice! Chris Rudd attributes these to the area around Chichester (Regini tribe). The design of this particular type creates the impression of a fast moving horse. The lack of balance and asymmetry create the feeling of motion. Above the horse you can see the remains of the charioteer's arms, left over from the Philip II horse and chariot stater this coin design was abstracted from.

Thanks for the heads up Willy, possibly linked to the Atrebates too. I do have the provenance at home so will have a look when I finish work ( on nights at the moment) was all a bit of a rush today from receiving the coin mixed with decorating the house and getting ready for work. The purchase was from a very well respected dealer. There are only 2 I will deal with for Celtic, one of them being Chris Rudd and the other is Silsbury coins.
