i picked this coin up really cheap because of its condition, I have tried to clean it with a cotton swab and acetone but that did nothing I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions what to try, I'm not sure what is on the coin it kind of looks like rust and it seems to be above the surface of the coin. I know cleaning coins are a no no but it would benefit the coin in this circumstance.
thanks again for your help

I doubt it,

If it is a glue or just something on the surface (witch I highly doubt) I guess you could try acetone and maybe it will come of. Although it looks like it is to late and whatever it is has already eaten through the coin.

An ultrasonic cleaner might do it, but then I say this a lot. Mine has helped me quite a bit in the past.

at this point you can try a rust remover from any hardware store, nothing to lose now.my personal opinion is it is too far gone, looks to have eaten into the coins surface..
