Congress required that even with the introduction of the Presidential dollars, Sacagawea's would still be required to make up (I think), one third of Dollar production. Okay, that said, where are they? I have gotten rolls of Presidential dollars from the bank, but they don't have the Sacagawea's. The teller told me they get whatever the Federal Reserve sends them. Has anyone else had problems getting 2007 Sac's?

Where are they is right, Brett. I usually pick up and P and D Kennedy and Sac at my local coin shop every year, but this year they said they weren't getting any Sacs because the banks had them. Well, no bank I've been to has them, they're getting the Presidential dollars only. I may be forced to go to ebay. Jan

I had to buy mine from a dealer - all dollars in fact, I can't get any Pres. Dollars at all. I hate it that I have to spend $2 a coin and I have 5 books to fill in the family.

You have to buy P&D rolls from the mint. I believe the SAC & JFK coins were never released to any banks for circulation.

If one third of the dollar output are Sac's, then that means there would be more Sac's than any other type of dollar coin made this year. If, for example, there were a million Sac's minted, but only 200,000 in circulation; would that make it a rare coin? There would be vaults of pristine coins that may, or may not see the light of day in the future.

the Sac's have not been released sense 2000. and they added a few into circulation in 2005 but only to get rid of them. so you will not find them at the Banks unless the minted too many but with the Pres dollars and everything else being minted now I don't see the banks getting them. I buy the mint and proof sets from the mint and get everything minted for circulation. I get to add coins every year to every book so it works for me. and I think it works out at about half of what I would have to pay at a B&M shop Gary

So far they have only struck a small amount of Sac dollars, basicly just what they need for selling rolls and bags and probably what they will need for the mint sets. The bulk of the coinage will probably take place later in the year. By now they probably have most of the Jeffersons struck and they will probably start the Madison coins around the time the Jeffersons are released and they will strike the bulk of the Sacs during the last three months or so. As for seeing them at the bank anytime soon I wouldn't count on it. They probably still have a backlog of 2001 coins plus all the extra Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Madison coins ahead of them. If they don't stop the dollar note and get the coins into circulation, the 2007 sacs may not be released to circulation for years.

If you really want them from the bank your bank should be able to order uncirculated rolls of each year, kinda like the ones they get for the prez. dollars. I'm not sure what the time period is for doing that though for the Sac dollars. The Lead Teller or Teller Supervisor should be able to order those for you when ever the fed is doing them that way. I'm guessing that it is too late to get the 2007's like that but they should be able to get the 2008's like that if you ask right before next year.

The program of being able to specifically order Unc rolls of the President dollars was something especially set up for them. There is no such program for the Sac dollars and orders for dollars outside the special ordering periods, or orders not for the presidents during the period, are filled from what ever stocks are on hand with a First In First Out inventory system. Sounless they make a change later this year, the banks will not be able to order rolls of 2007 Sacs

No, it is one third or one for every two president coins. This is a quote taken from the legislation. 119 STAT. 2666 PUBLIC LAW 109-145—DEC. 22, 2005 ''(ii) CIRCULATION QUANTITY.—Beginning January 1, 2007, and ending upon the termination of the program under paragraph (8), the Secretary annually shall mint and issue such 'Sacagawea-design' $1 coins for circulation in quantities of no less than 1/3 of the total $1 coins minted and issued under this subsection.''. Condor, thank you for the correction. I guess I've seen it mistated so many times, I confused myself.
I'm still in disbelief at the numbers involved for a coin that just won't circulate.

I know that the bank I work at that some of the branches have been requesting different denominations of rolls of 2007 coins when they order from the fed. and they have been getting them.

I tried just today to get the 2007 Sacagaweas from a coin dealer, and they weren't available.

I bought my 2007 Sackies from my dealer and, while I was there, he shot me an offer for my whole set in the Dansco album! Had a customer wanting them so I took the 2007's home, put them in the album, waited a week and took them back and accepted the offer. Pretty good chunk of change for something most collectors tried to avoid? Now I will have to put together another set!

My set is completed, except for the 2007 Proof.
It's one of my favorite collections. I especially like the reverse.
