I got a 2012 toonie in my change and it appears the edge has been misstruck. "Canada" and the maple leaf seem to have been struck to close to the edge, causing it to push out the edge on the face of the coin. Is this rare or common, I haven't seen it on another toonie yet. I am writing this on a mobile, and I am unable to add a photo.

I'm referring to the strike on the edge, not the face.

Upon closer inspection, the "2 dollars" section is worse then the "Canada" spot

these are just poor quality control by RCM, too much pressure on edge lettering process.
