A little humor for all of you:

I received a circulated $2 bill in some change the other day and decided to have some fun with it. I went to one of the large chain stores, I'll call it Wil Mirt to protect their privacy, and put a pack of gum on the belt. When the girl rang up my total, I handed her the $2 bill.

I should have taken my digital camera to capture the look on her face. She looked at the bill, then at me, then back at the bill, then at me again. She obviously didn't know what it was or what to do, so she asked for my ID. I asked her why she needed my ID when I was paying in cash. This confused her even more. She called the manager over by hitting the button so the light at the top of the pole would blink.

The manaager on duty came over and the cashier said, "He's trying to pay with this." The manager looked at the bill, then at me, then at the bill, then at me. I was having loads of fun. I didn't say a word, I just stood there.

Finally, after what seemed like 30 minutes, the manager said, "I don't think we can take this." I said, "Since when does Wil Mirt not take US funds?" The guy in line behind me said, "Haven't you ever seen a $2 bill before? Where have you been." I thought the manager was going to call the cops.

Since I didn't want to hold up the line any longer, I finally pulled .$75 out of my pocket and said, "Do you take these?" The cashier said, "Oh yes, we take that kind of money." I paid, got my $2 bill back, and left.

I think I'll try it again, but next time, I'll take my wife so she can enjoy the show.

Thought this might get a chuckle out of some of you.

Have a great weekend.

How can so many people be so out of touch with the world right around them?

I once read a book with 20 ways to make money legally
I remember one way
You walk into a Mercedes dealership and buy the most expensive mercedes with a check ; ( right before bank closing time )
The dealer phones your bank which confirms the check is covered
You drive around the corner and offer the mercedes to a second hand cardealer for sale
This guy phones the cops and you spend a night in jail
Next day your lawyer gets you a bagfull of money sueing the pants of both the dealers which agreed you were a fraud

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that most folks in the mid-1900 WOULD not carry the $2 because they were BAD LUCK! Around here everyone, including my grandparents, would not take a $2 and if somehow they managed to end up with one they got rid of it immediately. I can remember my grandfather telling me in the 60's NOT to carry those darn things, when I brought them home, and he was dead serious! Well that didn't deter me!

That's too funny! Unfortunately I can't say that I'm too surprised that this happened, y'all have heard my stories about people who still think that the Sackies are made of gold.

I've never heard of $2's being bad luck- what I do hear is that people who are going to Vegas won't take $50's because they're bad luck there. [:0]

If you know anyone who does not want to carry those "pesky" bad luck 50's and 2 dollar bills around I will be more than happy to supply my address for easy disposal.

Kyra,

The belief that $2.00 bills were bad luck goes back as far as 1928 and probably before. In order to keep the bad luck of effecting you you were suppose to tear off a cornor of the bill.

That's why at one time you always saw a 2 with a missing cornor.
