For those that may have missed it/be interested the platinum bullion eagles are back after a 5 year hiatus.

Never been a fan of the platinum eagle. Prefer the Platinum Maple.

To each his own nationality.
The Pt Koala coins are worth consideration; many weights and designs to choose from, all are excellent. Look at Google Images for choice.

Maybe a surplus on platinum as cars uses Palladium? I pick up two 1/10 ounce platinum before price when up, wish I bought more.

Just buying small amount these days.

I fear, nobody wanted them the first time and nobody will be willing to spend more than the price of gold on them this time.

I do like the platinum eagles as they have nice design changes each year (unlike the maples). Unfortunately they are out of my price range. I wish they would bring the fractional platinum coins back.

Im curious to see if they eat into the sales for the collector versions at all.

I should have mentioned they were stopped when the mint couldnt keep up with demand for the silver and gold eagles.

Theres kind of a lot that you can read into the decision to restart these. The first would be either the silver/gold eagle demand is down or the mint got a lot more efficient at making them. Also could potentially mean the end of the sf bullion eagles if they can keep up enough that theyre restarting this season. Then again sf making them too could be why theyre comfortable restarting these.

Im definitely interested to see what effects this has on the other series. The platinum ones have my favorite designs, just not my favorite prices.

+1 about the designs. I would've loved to have gotten one of last year's Pt Eagles, but the price killed that idea. I wish they made fractionals,
because I'd get those every year without fail. Higher premium notwithstanding, I could do a 1/4oz Pt but the 1oz price level is beyond my reach.
