I know absolutely nothing about platinum coins so thought I would ask about this listing I came across on ebay. Did the Mint produce Platinum Quarters?

Just a regular set of quarters. Seller is either extremely oblivious or a scammer.

Home Shopping Network, govmint.com and other coin-hypers often sell sets of unofficially-plated quarters - genuine, perfectly normal quarters which the seller has privately plated with a few bucks worth of precious metal. This is probably just such a set.

ebay is what is---period. DYODD.

We're swimming in a sea of plated crap these days, so it's imperative to buy what you buy from unquestionable sources.

Sap seems to be right again!
Ask the seller to weigh them!
With a 'Buy It Now' of $50, they would not be solid Pt.
XRF would not help; that test only examines metals on the surface.

yes, this is of course not solid platinum, only platinum-plated.
the only recent platinumcoin of the united states is the platinum eagle.
except the "Bollman-strikes" and some goldplated platinum-planchets (5 and 10 dollars), there are no other platinum coins, minted in the united states, existing.

I belive this is a Platinum Edition Statehood Quarter Set and not platinum quarters, not sure why they called it the "platinum edition"
