Picked this up recently, given the year, looks to be a British evasion halfpenny. Would this have circulated in the States during the pre-Federal era? Any other info would be great too!

Yep not regal
Still nice though.
A nice bit of history.
A large proportion of fakes were in Scotland (the land of deep fried pizza and mars bars)

It could have circulated here, but I suspect this one is British in origin.

If I were to submit this to NGC, what would happen to it, would it go in a slab showing it as contemporary counterfeit or would they just send it back without slabbing it?

Something like this is worth around $25 so slabbing it would be a huge waste, IMO. Yours is also suffering from some minor but visible corrosion/environmental damage.

Yours is actually a known variety. Look at at the Reverse "BR I I AN". The T appears as an I.

TPG's do slab contemporary counterfeits. See Machin's Mills for example.

I've also seen them slab contemporary counterfeits as genuine halfpence.

Other than the Machins and possibly a couple others known to have been struck here I don't believe they slab the contemporary counterfeit halfpence as contemporary counterfeits.

Thanks for the input. I was curious more to keep the set I am doing all in NGC slabs but I agree it probably isn't worth it for this one. It's a nice showpiece as is and I don't mind handling so much given its condition issues!
