found a 1944 cent today in a bunch of coins, was going through the penny's just to pick out the copper ones, Did not know till today that after 1984 that penny's are made of zinc.
Got a roll and a half of coppers out of 100 or so I went through,
are these copper cents worth keeping just for copper content? let me know your thoughts thanks RD. Lenoir...

Some people have been able to sell larger quantities of copper cents above face value.

However, zinc cents started in 1982 with the first full year in 1983. 1982 cents are either copper or zinc.

If you didn't know they started making them out of zinc in 1982 what ones were you saving?

And as coinsearcher83 said you can sell them for a premium but it's not really worth it unless you have a bunch.

I'm pretty sure I once opened up somebody's personal roll of copper pennies...

Broke open a roll of 50 pennies at work, customer wrapped roll, all 50 pennies were copper.

Howdy troops, haven't had a chance to get back on here lately, to LincolnGuy I have not been saving pennies I have not got a coin that I collect yet, just went through the pennies cause I came across then in a jar, when you say that you are looking for Lincolns, that are toned what do you mean? I'm not up on the coin talk yet, not been doing this long I'm mostly into gold and silver stuff, I got into it when I found a 1913 Indian 2.50 gold coin and found out what it was,

If you look it up you would find that the 1944 Lincoln Cent was the equal to the 1964 Jefferson nickel. By that I mean there were about a Billion and a half of those made. Just like that 64 Nickel, that 44 Lincoln Cent pops up all over the place even after all these years.
