March 15 is the Ides of March.

The-Ides-Of-March The-Ides-Of-March

Julius Caesar was assassinated on this date, 44 BC. The coin above, Sear 1407, was struck mid-January to early February that same year.

Almost forgot today was the day. Nice coin. Julius Caesar is still on my list of coins to get but they tend to be expensive.

Very nice! I'd love to have a JC portrait coin.

Shouldn't we add 13 days to our own date to bring it 'back' into alignment with the calendar of Julius ?
Anniversaries can sometimes be tricky issues depending who is doing the counting !

I somehow think 'Great Caesars ghost' will likely walk through the forum on the anniversary based on his own method of counting time.
My own wife sometimes gets confused over her own age !
Being from Albania she had been accustomed to thinking that the date which follows 365 days after her birth was her second birthday.
But one of several curious customs which lead me to believe the 'culture' to be positively antediluvian !
And that thing with the garlic ........ well enough said
