I'v e been lucky- never had a non-payer on ebay. Not sure the forum will allow posting of names, but hopefully others with much more experience in this forum and/or moderators will chime in.

ALL buyers have great feedback since they can't be given a negative (and not even a neutral). Plus if you give then a false positive ebay will remove it. There is only one way I know of stop NPB's (but unfortunately not completely). File a NPB dispute through the ebay system AND go the whole route (don't go for a sob story). The seller HAS to follow all the way through with this process. At the end of the dispute the buyer will receive a strike (which we'll never see). After several of these (I don't know how many) ebay will ax the buyer from the site. Problems are: -- the item shouldn't be relisted until process is completed (delays a possible sale) -- the buyer can show up with a new User ID (at least he loses his former feedback) And just to clarify a point, did you accept his Best Offer?

I have been a member of ebay since 2000. I can only remember one who never paid or even made contact with me after the sale. I did have one guy who said he paid my paypal account and I didn't send the item, but the money was never deposited so I don't know what that was about. I have not sold on ebay for quite a while now since the fees, shipping, and other factors drive the price higher than most are willing to pay.

What makes you think another site would have buyers with more integrity? No matter what venue you use to sell, the flakes and scammers are there ahead of you.

At least we get the fees back and can resell. I put them on the blocked bidders list and move on. If you don't block, then some come back and keep adding to the cart. Then it takes longer to get a resolution. Since 2001, I think I have only a few bidders on the list. When auctions are won by a new bidder in the final seconds, then they don't pay, you have to wonder....? When I win an item, I pay instantly. I have had a store on BidStart for years and some things have been listed for years. Recently, I have opened the E-Bay store and have sold things in less than a day, which were posted elsewhere for years. So, I don't mind the extra fees that E-Bay has over other sites as invested money turns back into cash much, much quicker.

Just block and move on. Only resort to Unpaid Item case if the Cancel Transaction is denied. Seen two cases so far where the same item (listed significantly below all other prices) was bought three times in a row by a zero feedback buyer who didn't pay (a different buyer each time) which is very suspicious but impossible to prove.

I've been a buyer and seller on ebay in a variety of genres since 1998. Only one time can I recall having a non-paying buyer. It was an auction, and after several days of emails prompting him to pay, I received a lame message via ebay from the buyer that said his wife objected to him spending the money, so if it was alright he would prefer I take the next highest bid. The next highest bidder declined, so I sold the item through a collector site - cost me about $75 USD in reduced payment on an auction price of about $575 USD. I suppose with refunded ebay fees it worked out about the same. Still, that's a pretty good batting average out of more than 500 transactions over 15 years. Of the ebay sellers I've been dealing with, there is a pattern of blocking buyers from eastern Europe and Asia/China, mainly because of buyers who never come through in the case of Asia/China, and lost mail as well in eastern Europe. It seems odd to me that when I send a note of thanks after leaving positive feedback, a significant number of sellers write back and are grateful for the note, and thankful there are still some good people on ebay - makes me wonder what other experiences they've had!
