I used to do #1, but found I was always begging for the buyers to leave theirs. Should be an automatic thing that a week after the tracking system acknowledges delivery, the seller is left a positive feedback if the buyer fails to do so. I just don't like things sitting in limbo, if they're happy with their purchase, don't leave the seller wondering.

Regardless of whether or not the buyer leaves feedback, I do my part and leave feedback for the buyer immediately after I ship the item.

It is not like I can leave negative or neutral feedback if the buyer turns out to be rotten. If people have already left many positive feedbacks for the buyer, one more won't change anything anyways.

I guess one can look at at it both ways. I have automated feedback setup so that random positive feedback is left as soon a buyer pays. I do that for two reasons, one being time efficiency the other echoes what Noah mentions. I've had two neutral feedbacks over the past 12 months. Both left without any prior communication to try to resolve the issue (or after I contacted them for that matter) and both clearly wrong in their assessment of the issue. One of the buyers bought from me for the second time after changing their account name. And yes they also left neutral feedback on the first purchase. I always take responsibility for any screwups on my end and try to work with a buyer either through rebates, returns or otherwise. On the most part the system is relatively fair and I still like to believe that most people have a sense of fair play, although I agree it's not always the case.

#1 always. Once the item has been paid, the buyer has done their part. I also leave the date that the item was shipped in the feedback. If after 3-4 weeks I have not received feedback, I send the buyer a message inquiring whether they have received the coin or not. That usualy(but not always) triggers feedback from them.

I leave feedback after buyer has paid.

If they don't want to leave me feedback, I don't get too excited. If they send me a message saying they haven't received the item after a few weeks, then I get excited.

I sell more than just coins on ebay. I always do option 1. I only receive 20% feedback on what I sell. I wasn't that way years ago. For some reason it seems to be getting worse. People just don't take the time to go back.

If I sell something its option #1 but has the buyer really done their part if they say they didn't receive the item?
As a buyer I've had other sellers send me a message similar to this " Thank you for your purchase, looking forward to exchanging positive feedback once you have received your item." I think after 45 days with no feedback ebay should consider it a good sale.

As a seller I always wait for them to leave FB for me first, ( if they don't I don't worry about it) One thing... it lets you know they've received it. As a buyer I don't like requests from sellers asking for me to leave FB. Another thing I don't always want FB on what I buy because I might want to relist it. If people look they can see what I paid for it.

I couldn't agree more. Once I'm paid and item is shipped, feedback is left. They honored their part of the deal.

I am always #1 as a seller. As a buyer, I don't leave feedback until the seller has left it, after 2 weeks, I archive the item and don't bother. Thee feedback is worth more to the seller than me as a buyer, in my opinion.
