What is everyone's thoughts on how feedback should work and what works best as a seller.I've sold stuff on ebay and have tried both methods below.I find a low compliance of feedback given to me in both these scenarios. I don't think it's right to have to beg for feedback. I mail my items the day of or the next day after payment. Does anyone else have this issue? As a buyer whenever I've received my item I give feedback. 1. Give feedback immediately after payment since buyers fulfilled their part. 2. Wait until the item has been received and they've left feedback and Then I finish the transaction with my feedback.

Always option #1 with me.

I do #2 due to various issues over the last decade of e-baying. E.g., once I made the mistake to sell to an international buyer. The item was somewhat expensive ($1k-ish), the shipping was costly ($50-ish), the country tops the list of corrupted countries given the continent, and to top it off, the buyer was lousy -- he didn't bother responding to the customs and pay the tax within their given period (2 weeks), so the customs dept. of that country send back the item to me at my expense! And then he filed an item not received claim!! Needless to say, I won the case -- $50 tracked/signature required shipping finally paid off. For a while, I had his money and the item :D, and of course I returned his money less the $100 shipping. Now I almost exclusively ship to Canada and USA.
I am also having a lot of issues with receiving feedback. I just don't get it: if you are not satisfied with the item, then please say so. Otherwise, please leave some sort of feedback. Unfortunately, an eerie silence is all I get, even from buyers with otherwise good feedback (this may have something to do with my name which reveals my race, though... yes racism --often media supported-- still prevails).

I use half of #2 ( Wait until the item has been received) then I leave feed back does not matter if the sender has left feedback. On the flip side I leave feedback when I know the item was delivered. Bob

I'm not fussy, but I do option 2 most of the time. I make certain I always leave feedback though.

Ever since having to deal with a guy who would buy coins and then open Item Not Received cases on the 45th day (tracked down 10 other sellers he had done this to) always #2. Buyer doesn't have to leave feedback if they don't want to; a message acknowledging receipt is sufficient. Alternatively if the 45 days has passed and nothing has been heard then feedback at that point.

Seems as years go by the percentage of buyers not leaving feedback increases. One or two unwarranted negatives can skew the positive % figure if many satisfied customers do not leave feedback. After 60 days if no feedback has been left by a buyer ebay should count it as a positive transaction.

Always #2 too many funny games otherwise! That said very few problems on ebay since 2000! In fact for coins right now ebay is the market IMHO.

I always give feedback when payment is received and I mark as shipped. The buyer has done their part of the deal. When buying, I leave feedback after receiving the item. I admit that I am slow in leaving it when buying, but eventually, I leave feedback for everything. Sometimes, I feel guilty leaving it late because, as a seller, I watch my feedback closely to make sure I am doing everything right and the item has been received.

As a buyer I expect feedback when I pay. When I receive the item if I have received feedback then I leave it. If not I skip it,no skin off my back

I do #1 as well, but with some of the hassles of dealing with international buyers, I'm thinking of changing to number 2. Currently, I always leave the date I shipped the item on their feedback to help me and the buyer keep track.

#1 if I have not received feedback from the seller, I will not leave feedback. If I sell to someone I leave it right away.
