One other criteria I didn't mention- I'd love to find more dealers who carry stock that appeals to the average collector. Time and again I followup on a suggestion to go to some dealer's web site only to find nothing listed but the high powered stuff selling in five figures. Where does this leave the guy like me who is filling spaces in Dansco albums?

I will check out all the sellers mentioned, with what coin I am chasing at any given time!

The best cheapest coins seems to be at one store or another at any given time or day.

So I look at as many different sellers including Aus & US & UK ebay's plus a growing group of other on line stores to get my best price.(nice to have windows 7 still)

I personally think it is a big mistake to get soft with a couple or one seller.

It does not hurt to play one seller with another.

Is it not about the best cheapest coin and not the seller? So long as the seller are good ones of course.

Very good thread it is going to help a lot to get that buy!

I could tell you my least favorite dealer. Del Parker...Absolute nightmare dealing with him when he came over to the UK. He's based in the states, Texas I think? If anyone comes into contact with him, just know he has a bit of a temper. Agreed a price to sell some coins to him, he kept hold of them for about 2 weeks, realised he couldn't shift them and so returned them back to me. Not only did he return them to me, he returned them back damaged. Note I received no money in the first instance, he kept them the entire time without paying as he agreed to upfront.

This is a great topic. I have had a tough time finding a good local dealer. There are some ok amateur dealers that just do the monthly shows. But I have had some bad experiences at local dealer shops. They seem like slimy used car salesmen, very pushy and hard sell personalities. At one shop, they have a system where they have to "buzz you out", and it took me 5 min of persuading them to let me out before they finally buzzed me out. This had turned me off from the hobby a few times in the past.
It's great to see a good list.

My local coin dealer owns a small shop in the centre of town. I've been in there once but as you say, some just have a hard sell attitude that puts you off going back. I went in to have a look and ended up coming out with an overpriced 1979 Isle of Man proof 50p. It is something I needed for my collection but at the price, I'd have much preferred to scout online and grab it at a lower price
