I'm no where near an expert in anyway but what I think I see is a genuine coin with great surfaces in a VF-30 grade.

I agree on the 8-B attribution, right down to the die clash on the reverse. Grade is probably closer to EF. Nice planchet, too! Might even be a high enough grade to have come from the Bank of New York Hoard; 246 Newman 8-B's there when they did the count of the remainder in 1948.

These are the local auction pictures, so I venture that its possibly fake? What would be a good price? The buyer premium plus tax is high. 15% + 7%, so everything counts.

I do not think so.

This is an R1 coin, found in higher grades. I agree this one is XF ish. I would think it is worth $1750 - $2000?
