Queen Anne is the only monarch I am missing from the 18th century but I have noticed (at shows and online) that her coins can be quite expensive and somewhat scarce. Why is this?
I suppose it was a fairly short reign, there were no copper coins (apart from the very rare farthing that most experts consider is a pattern), and silver and gold coins were probably minted in lower quantities as the Great Recoinage of 1696-1698 had just taken place, with very large numbers of William III silver coins issued to replace the last of the old hammered coins.
I picked up this Anne 1711 shilling today on ebay UK for $30 so they are out there if you keep your eyes open. This looks like a decent coin and I'm pleased with it.
