I have never held a US 50¢ before so I cant gauge the size, but the specs are very close to Canadian silver 50¢ coins.
My sister lives in NY state and I was thinking of getting her to search half dollar roles for me to find some birth year coins, and I wondered if you folks find Canadian coins in with your halves?

I have searched 1000's of halves and never found a Canadian half. I find all of the others. Let me know what years you are looking for, I'll try to get them for you.

In 35 years (Mich.) I've never found a Canadian half from thousands of rolls, but I know it happens. I personally know some that have dug these coins here. They are slightly smaller than later US halves.
I have found, in the last six years, around 150 silver Candian dimes in my search. Oldest is listed in my signature.

It is very rare to find a Canadian half-I have only found 7 in 10 years and 4 of them were silver. You are more likely to find a Canadian $2 coin in a half roll.

I found two in six years, both were silver, 1952 and 1919.

You are more likely to get 10 Peso coins or 2 canadian dollars than halves, up here in canada we don't even use the half anymore. You can get it very rarely from the elderly banking clients who bring them in along with their silver d ollars and quarters. Even then, it's only 1 or 2. The 50 was never popular due to it's similarity to the quarter (pre 87) and the dollar (post 87) in vending machines, where either people or the business were frustrated due to incorrect counting.

I'm in Rochester, ny. I've never searched halves, but from what I've noticed, Canadian currency is more likely to be mixed in depending how little people care or how visually similar it is.
For example, cents mixed in are very common. No one on the US side of the border things twice about about a Canadian cent. I typically find 1-2 Canadian per roll.
The next step up, nickels, they are there, but a little less. Say 1 Canadian per 1-2 rolls.
Dimes is a little weird. Because they're so small, some people don't look. But now were also getting more valuable so some people do check. I'd put them on pace with nickels in rolls near border states.
I don't search enough quarters, but they're probably a little less and not found in circulation as much as cents/nickels/dimes, but still out there enough where they end up in every day pocket change.
Halves: While every day I see Canadian currency in my change, or at the coffee fund at work, I've never seen a Canadian half. If I saw one I'd keep it just due to novelty value. That is also half a dollar now and I don't think banks would be as eager to let that one slip through as easily.

No, I have found, in about 100 boxes, 2 panama medio Balboa's. I live in Tx I usually find 2 or 3 Canadian pennies per box and like 1 Canadian dime per $1500 in dimes.

Well I may get my sister to search some halves and dollars so I can get some birth year coins for me and the kids anyway. We are almost 300 miles north of the border and I get quite a bunch of US coins, but not America The Beautiful. I always get the Denali ones for some reason.

Allfome, I tried to contact you via CCF's email, but it looks like you have that disabled. I hope I don't threadjack this thread, but just wanted to let you know that I pick up at various ESL branches and just recently started dumping at the 12-corners ESL branch (in the past it was a different branch). I'm just getting active again after a year or so off. The only problem with ESL is them not able to get things like halves or Ike dollars. I really should get another bank to dump at, one with a coin counter. If you know of any banks with a counter or offering halves/ikes, please let me know! Happy hunting.
