Well up to about a day ago, I would have said it is was a doubled die reverse. But I had this one submitted to John Wexler and I had the coin back for sometime and it was marked WWHO-004 New. So I thought this meant it was a new doubled die.
So it sunk in (Maybe a couple years later) what does
WWHO mean? So I got out his book and was looking at the 1968 doubled dies listing and found out it means
Wexler
Working
Hub
Obverse. It was noted that a working hub was used that had doubling on the hub that created several dies for all three mints that from hub doubling. So there are 1968-P/D/S dies that have this working hub obverse doubling. I suspected this earlier, just never grasped what it meant.
