I just picked this up tonight. great pocket piece.
Excellent!

Quote:
it's been dropped a few times, shows the usual hundred-and-twenty-year-old wear and has been improperly cleaned, but it bears the coveted CC. I don't normally carry any coinage, but i'll carry this one
Be sure to follow-up with its progress.

I have been carrying this 1943 Mexican Peso, was BU to
start, used it for a golf marker today. I may bust out the
older brother 5 Peso coin from 1953 as a companion piece.

Really like Mexican Silver.

Hey, me too!

@MrPink

That CC Morgan will look great as a true lowball. It may take some time, though.

I decided to start a pocket piece - a cleaned and damaged 1887 Morgan dollar. Will add pics soon.

@spruett-

i concur. I looked at it again, thinking about the lowball thread, but I think my '90-CC has a way to go before it's full-on lowball. getting there.

i haven't found a thread for this story, so i'll keep it short cos it is now related to the coin:

i carry the '90-CC morgan in my left front pocket.

each & every night, regardless of the weather, I go out at midnight, bike/walk around the island, feed cats & find money.. change that is discarded or lost. I pick up every cent I find, typically end up with a buck or two in change. all the change I find goes into the pocket with the CC morgan. I'm trying to help my lowball/PO01 along, lol...

(I'm saving in a jar all the found change for a gold coin purchase before end of this year, will likely snag my first $2.50 indian head gold by thanksgiving.. effectively turning my junk metal into gold.. I have found- since spring this year- nearly $245, I expect it to reach about $280 by the time the jar fills again).. much of what I find has varying degrees of road rash, not much of it worth looking at, but I examine every bit of it regardless.

if I find a more appropriate thread i'll go into greater detail with the coin hunting story, with pix.

Now that I'm comfortable posting pics, time to show you this one again. Here I am thinking to myself, nothing is going on with this coin. Boy was I wrong. Regret not having had a few more shots along the way. This has been in my work pants since Jan. 2018. I'd say 9-10 hours, 5 days a week max. Quit a difference, eh. Rim ding at 8:00 on the reverse is from a fall onto the bathroom tile. Sounded great, but I had to cringe. . Just for zero confusion, pics 2 and 4 are from today.

Picked this up for $8. Has great eye appeal to me still and it'll be my pocket piece until I get a set of keys to attach it to.

@CoinBuffalo

If you can get that hole to fill through circulation wear, I'll be impressed.

@loonielewy

It looks like you got all that dark mess off. Now, the real work begins! I am still carrying mine every day in the pocket, but am pondering adding another coin. The Burt's Bees lip balm isn't interacting in any significant way, so a fellow large dollar may be due...
