This was a recent ebay pickup. Probably paid more than it may actually be worth, but I sometimes splurge on interesting items.
The auction described it as a dove countermark, but I suppose it can be any of a number of birds.
Doesn't really show due to flash, but the tone/patina and surface appearance is consistent between the incuse area and the rest of the coin so I do not believe it to be a modern punch.
Opinions?

No I don't own a copy of the Brunk catalog, though planning on getting it in the near future.

Divino counterstamps from Brasil

This counterstamp is the "Carimbo Do Divino" which roughly translates to "The stamp of the Divine."

These were issued to the poor by early 20th Century missionaries in Brazil, counterstamping obsolete coins.

Thank you very much David, the countermark is different on mine but the similarity is hard to ignore. I will pursue this in researching it. Thanks again.
