As a daily seller on The Bay, I hear your frustration/disdain of trite, overused, under accurate descriptors. However, when a seller provides accurate assessments of a coin as to relative rarity and/or condition it is helpful to many journeyman collectors. I receive positive remarks on a regular basis from buyers that they appreciate the help with their coin's overall assessment/potential worth. Just sayin' .... PG

You are totally correct PG. I have 3 or 4 trusted dealers that I use and respect their opinion on the Bay. I know we are all pokeing fun at the ebay sellers. But we know it is not all sellers that are nuts or scammers.

In the end, I could care less about the description. A good, accurate, honest photo will get my bid every time. I'll know if the actual coin differs significantly once in hand. I think skilled photography is the best tool available to a seller.

Personally I bid & buy on ebay mainly with the photo(s) in mind.

Many good pictures protect both the buyer, seller and ebay.

AOMT .... ebay has the burden of providing an honest-fair platform on buy-sell ... for more than only coins.

So let me get this straight. Now people that sell on ebay are not allowed to talk up their coins. Tell you what. Why dont all of you come up with a set of guidelines so that us poor ebay sellers dont do something that offends the sensibilities.

AOMT..........

If one finds a seller on ebay that is breaking ebay rules ... report it. We all want ebay to be reliable for all players, both buyers and sellers ... Right?

My three biggest pet peeves:

Photos taken with a flip phone by candle light at ten feet.

Meaningless titles that exaggerate the condition of the coin.

Title that tells me how old the coin is.
