A guy asked me if I wanted to buy some of his coins. He said he had a roll of wheat pennies and another with Indian heads mixed in.
What should I offer not knowing what the years are? I will make sure they are what he says they are though.

Looking forward to your guidance.

since it's only a couple of rolls I suggest opening them to see what is really there. In bulk I might offer $2 per roll for Wheaties and maybe $1 each for indian heads.

Buck fifty if I'm buying, maybe a buck seventy five. I'll sell at two per.

$1 per penny on the Indian head?

He suggested $10 per roll and I was shocked since I figured $1 to $2 per roll was it since I don't know what years to look for yet.

Normally bulk circulated wheats for for 2-4 cents per coin. I can get uncirculated late 1950's rolls for $10 a pop give or take a couple of dollars..

I get mine in Florida for 3-4 cents each but I have had luck at first buying rolls from families of collectors who want a $5 or 10 bill each. they had semi and keydates in them but that luck ran out after the first time and most rolls after that where junk. I now just try get them by the lb from collectors that only want silver or gold but had to buy whole estate lot or buy uncirculated rolls when they $10-24 each

what history does the buyer give for them? is he using words like "usearched" "estate find" "possible key dates" "original unopened rolls"? does he have "possible" key dates on the ends of the rolls? example, a bu looking vdb that he speculated could be a 1909 s vdb. how many rolls does he have altogether for sale?
If I was buying I would go in for $1.50 a roll max personally for the pure wheats. even if they really are legit unsearched the odds are still greatly in them being almost all 40's and 50's dates. id go $3 maybe a bit more on the Indian cents mixed in roll w/o knowing exactly how many are mixed in.
