The coins are from the New Zealand Mint, but are struck by Perth. From what was shown at the recent SingaporeCoin Fair ther first coins will be 1/4oz gold and 1oz silver 'Steamboat Willy' coins.

Others will be '80th Anniversary of Donald Duck' in 1oz silver, 1oz gold and 1/4oz gold.It looks like they'll be six Disney character coins released individually in a 1oz silver format.

Everythings currently under embargo.

The "Steamboat Willie" Mickey Mouse silver and gold coins went on sale yesterday and appear to be selling very well - some retailers are already sold out.

Here's an image of the silver version from the New Zealand Mint.

You can't buy a gold at issue price ($658 US). Most recent ebay sale closed at $1398.

In terms of investment potential, only the gold one has it. While the gold is selling for double issue price, I doubt the silver one will do that well due to the 10,000 mintage. As we see with RCM products with 10,000 mintage and above, the aftermarket is subdued.

We sold out of initial inventory of over 100 coins in less than 30 minutes of launch at April 16th 8:01am EST.

Since then we have obtained more stock from other dealers at slightly higher prices.

By the time the entire series is out in the next two years, the silver steamboat willie will have likely doubled in asking price. I'm sure a lot of people (coin and Disney collectors alike) are still unaware that these exist as they just got released a few days ago and I'm sure some die hard Disney fans would want this in their collection. It is very hard to tell as of now but that's my prediction. I agree 100% on the gold coin for investment potential but I wouldn't count out the silver one just yet.
