Quite a few Perth Mint pennies seem to have a distinctive squiggle that reminds me of an Egyptian hieroglyph over the '19' in the date. Most are 1964s, but I also have it on a 1962. Here are four examples, collected from different sources, as well as a close up of the feature I'm curious about. Does anyone know how it got there?

Nice "Strike throughs"
Looks like the Queens neck and chin.

It looks to me as being a die clash.

ie: The Obverse die has clashed against the reverse die leaving a squiggle on the reverse die (and thus on all coins minted thereafter).

The shape is the curve at the bottom of the Queen's hair to where it joins her neck etc. (Remember you are looking at a mirror image of the obverse).

Yes, I see what is meant now.

However, I have other examples where the squiggle is not exactly the same.

The one pictured here is the most common shape and location, but I have other shapes in different locations above the date.

Would the same explanation account for them too?

Possibly .... put up a picture and I'm sure you'll get some ideas.
