The luster is strong in hand. The chatter really doesn't distract from the overall eye appeal.

I have it at AU50. Thanks guys :-)

I would agree with EF45 to AU50, and I'm think the color is also quite appealing. I wish I could take photos like that!

Per Red Book only 51000 were struck for the year 1832. A scarce coin, but the prices in the various guides do not reflect this. Why is that?

From the information I have, per Robinson, many mint state examples are known to exist.

There was a hoard of mint state Half Cents that included this date, so more high grade survivors than the mintage numbers indicate.
Rest in Peace

Yeah, I agree. Even though the pics don't show all the luster, there is enough areas hinting at luster in the pics, that I can gather that it cartwheels in hand. At this point, imho, EF grades start getting thrown out the window, and weaknesses in the design are more likely strike related than wear related. Even with the abrasions, it is a lovely AU...and if I think it could be a strong start to a lovely AU 7070 type set!! Go for it Dave!

Thanks 1893S, GERMANICVS.

Yeah, the number of AU and MS examples is up there. This is one of the more obtainable dates in higher grades.

As for my photography, I shoot on a black matte cotton glove, warm led light angled just right, and an older Olympus 6 mp camera. Sometimes, I use my phone.
I'll have to share my "photostudio".
You'd have a good laugh but it works :-)

ps,
There are better photographers on the CCF ;-)
