I posted some time back that I was upgrading my Mercury set. My set is complete except the 42/1 and I have tried to upgrade to FSB where possible. Well, thanks to dumping a hoard of SBA's I was able to get this. Kind of a neat rotation also. I am kind of excited!

What do you see wrong that NGC only gave it an MS62. I don't see the hits that are usually scattered on a 62. That looks like an upgrade candidate. Congrats. nlp

It's only a 62 due to luster, and it also looks like there are some hairlines in the reverse field above EPU.

That's a great Mercury dime and I don't agree with the grade either (should be higher).
But the number on the holder is immaterial (unless your selling) the coin is what it is
right there in front of you.
I'd be excited too

I'm a bit nosey so I have few questions. Are all your Mercury dimes in an Album? How much did you have to shell out for that 21? You said your missing the 42/41. Does that mean you have the 42D/41 with full bands? I suppose you do have the 45 Micro S with FSB's. I still need 5 more to go to make a full set with of FSB's. I think the 42D/41 will be my hardest one to find.

Carl,

There's a 42/41D on the bay for around $17k ms65 FB, don't know if it's worth that much, but looks right for the grade by NGC.

just carl- my coins are in a Dancso (except the 21, 21D, 16D, all stabbed, dought if I will break them out. I have freed several, some rather expensive but not to the level of this coin. I have another set in an old folder that has a hole for the 41/2, it is complete except for that coin and the 16D. I dumped a LOT of SBA so I had enough to buy the 21D without it hurting too much. I paid close to Numismedia price so I probably overpaid a little. My 16D is a G6. "One day" I will move that one to my second set and upgrade the Dansco set.
