Did you use restricted delivery or signature confirmation by any chance?

It means the addressee (or alternate) was not available to sign for the item at delivery. If the carrier is not comfortable with the situation at the delivery location they will take the package back to the post office.

No, that is the weird thing, it was just sent Parcel Post. I would say you are right Western Sky. I just normally see delivery attempted, note left.

No authorized recipient is just the reason the carrier took it back to the post office. There is nothing special about it and nothing to be concerned over. Anything with a scan label that is not delivered has to have a reason entered in the scanner.

I saw it once for an item I sold. I think it really means "sketchy neighborhood, redeliver on Saturday".
