Just wondering, wouldn't a "true" radar have to end in an L in this case and not an A? John1

"Just wondering, wouldn't a "true" radar have to end in an L in this case and not an A" John1
John, It's a radar number note, the L and A are not numbers, there letters.

Quote: It's a radar number note, the L and A are not numbers, there letters. But a complete SN has numbers and letters right? So a true RADAR would be LI05588550L. John1

John, Yes it would be nicer to have a note like that but I don't think it's really possible, the "full" number is LI-then the number then a single letter, and you will never find a number ending with two letters, and then what do you do about "star" notes ?. Bill Collector

The I in the SN indicates the district so it would not end in two letters,it would end with an L. John1

Well John, If the I in the number is the district, and most know that is correct, and you said "a complete SN has numbers and letters right ?. So a true RADAR would be LI05588550L."
Well if your going to use letters and not just numbers in the "radar number" then what do we do with the I at the end of the number, I noticed that it just "went away" with the example you gave. Never mind, you don't have to answer that.
I don't think your ever going to get what most currency collectors already know. Like you say in most of your post.
( I'm no pro, it's just my humble opinion )
Now I agree.
But I will say this in your defence, back when we had notes that only had two letters in the number, one at the beginning of the number and one at the end of the number you could find a note like your thinking of. But we are talking about the new $ 100. here, not the older ones, and again I will say, you will never find a new note with two letters at the end of the number. So if you are saying that a true radar note has to include the letters then I guess the days of true radar notes are gone forever. Bill Collector

I already said that, but it seems that John does not understand it. His excuse is he's not a pro, and will never be a person that is an experienced Currency collector because for dome reason he cant "get it" no matter how it's explained to him. Bill Collector
