http://www.ebay.com/itm/Octavian-an...330839694175 Judging from all the bids on this coin seems like someone thinks this is genuine. .I am not sure on this one . Should I bid or does this look like a copy. Thanks Joseph

Coin looks crude. May be a copy but I'm 50/50 on this one. Can't say for sure.

Definitely bogus. The fact that it is coming from Romania does not help the case for it either.

Marc Anthony does not look handsome or very happy at all on his coinage. He usually looks a bit like a man passing a kidney stone.
This is an old scam where a group of people bid to get a sucker to jump in.

Sorry to any folks that are from that region, but there are just too many fakes coming from there. I would'nt take the chance. Besides it just doesn't look right.

I would emphasize that I have actually bought a coin from Romania once and meant no slight. I found a large early Republican As (31 grams) for sale once and my $15 winning bid made it worth any risk I was taking. The seller was quite happy and thanked me for having trust in him and his product (he had a low feedback number albeit 100%) As the coin was one of those obviously genuine specimens (well encrusted) I gave him a glowing feedback.

But it dawns on me that we have heard of late that shipment of antiquities from Romania is "verboten"
that does seem to imply something.

Long ago I remember hearing a quote attributed to Czar Alexander II

"Romanian is not a nationality ........ It is a profession !"

Thanks I will not bid on this coin it is priced to high for me anyway.I notice all of his higher priced coins seem to be fake and the coins that seem to be authentic are mixed in.
