So you need an American friend to purchase & then ship to Canada or pay 3 or 4 times the price to Americans? This is ridiculous.

APMEX website was not working well yesterday, so I called & placed an order for 4 of the cases-$59.35 with shipping included. I should do a major bulk order & sell to CCF Canadian group order. Why so expensive to ship between us very close countries & allies. Not like they are going to Putin!!

There is the shipping cost issue. And I think the reason for that is simple: political.

If either Post tried to charge the same for internal shipment, the politicians would be all over it. But, with cross-border, those affected have no representatives to be a target of wrath. So, absolutely not a concern at all.

I expect USPS is charging something closer to actual costs for cross-border, while expected to lose money massively when shipping within the US.

My sister lives in Texas and I asked her to order them and ship them to me. She asked how much they weighed and when I told her she said it would be really expensive and probably cheaper to buy them for $39.99 in Canada.

I hope that price includes shipping. Actually $40.00 for a nice RCM wooden coin case isn't a bad deal. RCM seems to want to phase these out & replace with cardboard boxes-what next, a shoe box?!

I wonder how did APMEX got them? Did they order a pile of subscriptions?

To bad the Chinese haven't realized there is a market for the cases. And, it would be well received and probably totally legal since the RCM doesn't directly sell cases.

I could be way off but when you send coins in to be graded, you are asked if you would like the mint packaging returned to you. Many say no due to postage & the grader ends up having a large quantity on hand. They are in constant contact with coin companies that use there grading service & offer them for a very good deal.

Still less than about $5.00/coin. If sent in for grading, about $20.00/coin.

I wish, Chinese or whoever will realize it soon, and will start to produce quality wooden boxes for every sizes of coins and for every quantity of the coins (2-20 will be enough).
"They" just do not know, that the demand for this is so huge...

Discounting what point would there be getting the Oh Canada set graded, who would bother sending the wood box in when they sent the coins to be graded? The capsules are sufficient protection, especially since they are going to be opened anyway.

In my short time as a collector this is the thing that surprises(and frustrates) me the most...how hard it is to find a quality box for the coins.
RCM are really missing the boat on this...they must realize the demand !
