At first I thought this little ball of metal was caused from something that scraped the coin, but upon closer inspection I saw that the chip was connected to the A.

1958. Just now also found out the 5 is machine doubled.

I'm going to assume its a die chip because it looks like to much metal to have come from that tiny ding. Its always best to tell us the date when posting such things so we can look at our coins for the same progressive chip.

Hi Collectinator

I think you'll find that virtually all 5's from the 1950's have that "doubling" effect. Check out your other pennies and you'll see what I mean. There are true doubled 5's, but the doubling there is usually on the outside. Nice find on the chip though!
