I have two bids in on an auction site for two separate 1926 Sesquicentennial Half Dollars. One is pretty nice and the bid is up around the $30 dollar mark, I won't be bidding any higher that's for sure, but then there's this one. It looks like I'm the only one interested in it. Why am I hoping I get out bid on the nice one and end up getting this one It could certainly be considered an ugly coin, but there's enough detail to tell what it is, and the toning or whatever it is has settled in the details of the faces and just around the portraits of Washington and Coolidge and and I think its just way cool...Certainly not a looker coin at all..but I can picture this one in my 7070.

Minidude111 - I'm starting to get that way too...Some of the pieces I've bought for the 7070 have to be worn pieces obviously because of the price...and when I look through it for some reason I like the holes that have the more worn out coins...I'm contemplating replacing some of my higher grades in that album with lower grades just for that reason. Now my Dansco 1840 Washington quarter album, I'm still partial to the higher grades, but for this album I just like the older worn coins.

I'm a big fan as well of honestly well worn coins ... they convey to me a sense of the history of their use in our nations commerce ...

That is all that matters ... your collection and your preferences.

Best wishes for acquiring the coin.

It is worn and it is crusty in all the right places. Ugly, it is not. I say go for it.

Congrats phankins11 on winning the coin. It has character - I like it. Even old worn coins need a home where they are appreciated.
