Good day all ,I was just kind of day dreaming today about what would be a subject for the next Oh Canada series ( if there is one ) and this is what I've come up with . Austrilia has released a series of coins in the shape of their country , so why not do an Oh Canada series where each of the coins represents each province and territory of Canada . Each individual coin would be in the shape of the individual province or territory with one side having the portrate of the Queen or king who reigned when that province or territory joined Canada . The other side could have something of that individual province or territory that is unique to it ( flower , bird , year of joining Canada , etc ) . The mint could make the series subscription only and limited mintage of 13000 representing 1000 for each privince and territory . When you have finished the series the coins would form the map of Canada and could also be coloured coins with a medalion in the spape of Canada . The box with the series could be in the shape of a maple leaf , made of various types of maple and lined with beaver fur . Each box could be assigned a serial number of 1 to 13000 and when you subscribe your subscription becomes tied to a serial numer and each of your coins comes with a sequencial COA number tied to your serial number ( serial number inside box is say 10,284 so your first coin would have a number of 10,284 - A and so on to the last coin which would be 10,284 - M ). I think this idea would make this a truely Canadian series of coins that reflect many of the various aspects of what makes Canada , it's history and all of us Canadian . What ideas might you folks have for a Oh Canada series ?

Nice idea, Piscesdave

As my wish, I will just simplify yours, and re-use existing gold coins design:

Silver (1oz coins, or Silver Dollars), each one has the Provincial Coat Of the Arms for one province (territory), Proof finish.
And all these comes with nice wooden box with special engraving. Will not resist also to some medallion in addition.

@piscesdave,I can't beat your idea....sounds great to me !

I have the 2013 & 2014 1/10 oz gold O Canada sets, a little smaller than I expected but beautiful after I got my trusty magnifying glass out.

Keep the ideas coming !

Rest in Peace

I like it all except "lined with beaver fur"? Really? Granted trapping is indeed a major part of our history, but I would prefer to leave it there - in the past, and not have my coin collection tarnished by the box.

Dcadon , I agree the fur may be a bit over board , how about inside the box on the cover a series of pictures of things like the polar bear , beaver , moose etc ... I think the mint should do a survey of what Canadian collectors would like to see in a ,( say for the year 2015 or 2016 ) , OH Canada series .
