This coin indicates it is a California Gold 1/2 Dollar but it does not conform to the 1/2 dollar California gold coins with which I'm familiar. Can anyone give me an idea what this is? Thanks for your help.

It is a modern reproduction, indicated by the presence of a bear and the absence of a denomination. The vast majority of the modern repros are gold-plated while a few are low karat gold(8-10k).
Rest in Peace

Agreed... there are hundreds of modern "fantasy coins" of this type, ranging from gold to plastic. Yours is probably gold plated or made from a gold lookalike. How big is it and how much does it weigh?

Thanks. It is quite small, but about the size of an authentic $1/2 round coin.

Nice fantasy piece!

That's a bear? Looks more like a wolf.
