Hello,

Several years ago I asked for information on this coin/token which I inherited. I came across it the other day and was wondering if anyone had any further information.

In the subject line I have copied out what the little brown Jacques Schulman envelope says (in handwriting).

Thank you.

Scroll down on this link and you shall find your coin, you inherited some amazing coinage. I just commented on your other post, I'm envious. http://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?a...16756&page=2

I can't find an exact match at the moment, but lot 2122 was probably it. However the reverse of that one is non existent.

Ok the name is Dutch Guinea 2 Duit 1679, but still need an identical reverse match.

How fantastic to be able to flip through the web in seconds and find things that match - I'm quite impressed. Very good photographs in your link and a whole set of them that match mine. Good news.

So it looks like this is definitely genuine and a coin that others know about. It's such a tiny thing and very thin. Extraordinary how it's survived.

Thank you again!

These coins seem to be very scarce, especially in such great condition. Hopefully someone who can verify the authenticity can take a glance. The coin has wear, shows a bit of copper oxidisation(small blue bit). But I can't find a coin to compare it with yet, I'm still looking. These coins have a nice premium. I may even suggest getting your coins slabbed.

Check number 44, the reverse is non existent again. But the obverse matches. Getting warmer :).

Positive I.D.

Dutch Guiana copper 2 Duit 1679, KM3, Scholten 1435a. VF20 ANACS, 2.97 grams. Dove and branch with value "2" above and date "AN.1679" below. Ornamental tree on back side.

This link has the same coin and price realised:- http://www.mcsearch.info/search.htm...lar:815347#7
I would highly suggest getting your coins slabbed/graded.

Let's await someone for an authenticity check, this coin is very rare and it may be best to get it slabbed for authenticity because of the difficulty of finding like for like specimens. I feel it's authentic given the wear and aging, but I could and can be wrong. You inherited quite the collection :).
