Hello - does anyone happen to have the Schulman auction of September 10, 1968 (Martin Valdez sale) to hand? I have inherited two items from the sale but the coins have all come out of their envelopes .... so I don't know which is which and I don't collect coins so it is doubly difficult. One is item 922 and one is item 448. Both are Spanish (or shipwreck coins or something like that). They were with a dozen or so other cobs but they look so alike.

Thank you.

Here are the possible coins from the envelopes - they've all tumbled out in shipping to me so I don't know which belongs to which.

I'm not a pirate cob expert, so maybe listing them in the identification forum will get the cobs I.D'd better :).
P.s. I'll try and find more on the auction catalogue, but the above links show the auction.

Another link mentions the auction. Scroll down until you see Hans Schulman and you will see the auction mentioned. http://brycebooks.squarespace.com/s...Catalogs.htm

Are you looking for reference to the auction? Or an exact catalogue listing showing the cobs? The above mention the Spanish cobs and auction.

Peregrinus : hey, I find you here again :)
As I told you on ebay, none of the coins you have on this picture belong to the first envelope.
Only the top left one is not from Mexico, and considering the style, it seems to be a continental cob (from one of the mainland spanish mints).

Another possibility is that one may have been miss-catalogued (for example, Mexico with essayer D)
