I've seen them around, but can't find it since . Also the verdigris, to I try removal? If so I want to know what coin it is, so I can have a template to work off. Any help would be much appreciated.

Our old friend Victorinus I think. Often confused with Tetricus when the legend is iffy.
I don't think your coin has bronze disease. Take a pin and gently stroke the green. If it turns flaky then you might have a problem but I think this looks solid. I have seen this referred to as malachite. If you remove it it will leave a mark on the metal. It is not a rare coin (as far as I can tell) so you could remove a tiny piece of it just to see for yourself.

The emperor is Victorinus 269-271. If the green deposits are not Powderly than it's not DB. The coin has been overcleaned so your going to have to be careful picking off the green deposits. Once that is done you will need to wax the coin.

Thank-you, and yeah the stuff is mighty tuff on the coin-I gave it a gentle prod with a needle. I feel it would be a long ordeal getting it all of gently, but hey I like chess ;). I think I've narrowed it down with regards to the reverse http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...rinus/t.html Cunetio 2572 RIC 57v Thank-you it's definitely Victorinus :).

Yep, Victorinus, overcleaned, doesn't look like BD. Could be hoard encrustation - copper compounds adhere to the metal of nearby coins in the ground. Hoards a often just big green clumps.
Or, it could just be some copper salts. YOu'd need provenance really.

I would leave it as it is. Take a bit off just for practice if you want, but I think it looks quite attractive, and I think it will leave blotches all over if you try and take it off.

I'll leave it be, the detail of Victorinus is fantastic for it's age. I don't want to risk damage, and it looks a lot nicer not so magnified. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Most of my billon coins have the same color.

Is the coin I've found on wildwinds a match for this coin? Just want to double check. I'm fascinated by how intricate the details are on Victorinus, if only we could employ old methods for some limited edition coins.

You mean fakes? ebay is full of them! Didn't Time Team try and do this at one time?

No not fakes, you know how Royal Mint brings out commemorative's. Imagine a hammer stuck commemorative coin :), by the mint. It would be laborious, but I'd buy one.
