As some of you may know from my profile I also collect Japanese Samurai Swords. I needed some extra cash so I had to sell one. A beautiful Kodachi circa 1280. Nate (Anoob) saw it and had to have it so we made a deal for some cash and coins. Here is one of the eight coins I got in the trade.

Ptolemy-XII-And-Cleopatra-VII

Ptolemy-XII-And-Cleopatra-VII

AR Tetradrachm
Ptolemy XII NEOS DIONYSOS & CLEOPATRA VII
24.2mm x 13.77 grams
Paphos, Cyprus mint
year 17 66/65 BC
Svcronos 1867
EF ++

I'll be away for a few days. I'll post the others when I get back.

Fantastic Ski! I really want one of these some day.

I would love to see some of your swords you should post them in General Discussion. I would have no idea what to even begin looking at a sword. That's so cool.

Ronski,

Man I really love that coin. Very historical and in great shape. It was really tough to let that one go. I really think you opened the door for another monster.

Noob - I don't know if the gf would let me keep an actually sharp sword in the apartment. I only get to keep my machete because it was a gift from her. She wasn't very impressed when we used it to weed the garden one time.

Ronski, won't admit it but I will...our wives indirectly closed the deal on the trade, his wife told him what she wants and my wife told me what I am allowed to spend. We joke about it regularly but it would be funnier if it wasn't true. He's got a really crazy Mumei that you could masquerade as machete. Just saying...

There is some scholarly debate as to the mint. References suggest Alexandria, Egypt but the mint mark is certainly that of Paphos, Cyprus. Very interesting. I wish I knew more about how and why this distinction was made.
