G-4.

Too much of Liberty is missing to even consider VG-8, but a very nice coin, none-the-less. Don't you just love giving these large cents a new home?!?

I don't have a good photo to work from for the 1844 over 81 overdate, but the one I have looks a bit like your coin. That mark off the top of the first 4 looks less pronounced than on the photo I have, but definitely similar to what one would see on the overdate.

BTW, very nice photos.

I'd say good, but I don't think it's just an average 1844 cent. I think hunter is closer to what it is but I don't know much about large cents.

Very Nice overdate. Did you mange to cherrypick this? I have attached a pic of the one that I grabbed a while back.

I picked it up for a $1 at a local B&M. If I can remove the green spot I will be happy.

Suggestion for removing green spots on copper coins: Goo Gone with a Q-Tip. I have found that if the green stuff has not taken hold too deeply, you can soak coins in Goo Gone, then swab it GENTLY with a Q-Tip. I was advised to try mineral oil / baby oil as well, but Goo Gone works nicely in most cases, and does not discolor coins at all.

I've also used this to remove PVC damage on proof coins, and have used it on nickel, copper and silver coins with success in all cases.

BTW, very nice buy for a buck. Congratulations!

Peace-
