I've heard that the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa sells uncirculated rolls of coins at their boutique . For example: a $10 roll of 2014 quarters.

Is this true? What are the details? I always thought they only sold non-circulating coins.

I've been trying to get uncirculated rolls in Toronto with no luck, will have to check out the Ottawa Mint again next time I'm there.

They do have them. However there is a limit on the rolls. I think 3 rolls per denomination. Something like that. Bought a few rolls a couple of years ago.

@brexzz1

Cool! Do you know if they have them available all year-round? That'd be great if I could grab some rolls whenever I'm in Ottawa next.

Pretty sure they do. I hae been in April and November. Had them both times. Every denomination. Actually scored a roll of old style 2012's back in 2012.

I was there in August last year and they said they usually sold out of circulation rolls by June and had none to sell then. They did give 2013 coins in change at the boutique and ticket booth, I presume they give 2014's now.

I live in Winnipeg and ended up picking up 5-10 rolls of each denomination and shipping them out to him in Swift Current...
There was a 5% charge from the mint and shipping costs was just under $20 to go to Swift Current...

If they're out in Ottawa and you can't get a friend in Winnipeg to help you out... drop me a line.. we'll make sure you get some rolls!
